Fabric Collage Skills

This is is a skills building workshop focusing of techniques you can use to create pictures in fabric collage.

Learn some of  the techniques behind textile collage and create a sample reference book. These are all techniques that I use in my fabric collage Stitchbooks such as my books about Kew and Wisley Gardens (see right), and will provide you with a good foundation to start working in textile collage.

During the workshop you will be given a small blank fabric Stitchbook and then will create a number of samples to add to the book to create a reference library of techniques you can use in future projects.

I will be using botanical images for inspiration but the techniques can easily be transferred to other themes.

You will have time during the day to try out the new techniques and add the samples to your Stitchbook.

Hopefully by the end of the day you will have the confidence and understanding of how to create your own designs using the methods practiced.

Skills covered:

Hand Applique using templates

'Drawing' with hand embroidery

Creating textures with Brusho dyes

Painting with Inktense pencils

The cost is £80 this includes the price of the fabric sample book  plus any addition materials and equipment you need to use on the day.

The course runs from 10 – 3.30pm  and will have a half hour break for lunch.

You need to have a basic level of sewing knowledge -not necessarily on a  sewing machine. The books can be completed by hand or machine.

My studio is quite small so there will be a maximum of 4 participants.    Minimum suitable age is 14.

After purchase I will email you with a list of suggested supplies to bring along and a reminder of the workshop details.

It will be held at my Hotwalls studio  which is a lovely place to spend the day (more info on my Studio).  There will be a break for lunch and you can bring your own or visit the fantastic onsite Canteen. I will also be providing tea and coffee throughout the day.

There are several parking options such as the Land Rover BAR car park and some on street parking.

Cancellations may be made up to and including the day of participation for a full refund or change onto another course if available. However I would prefer if you could give two weeks notice so I can try to fill the space.
